Roles

Roles in GIS Cloud Suite is used for restricting access permission, the access permission can be set by configuring service instances, please refer to GIS Cloud Suite > Service Instance > Service Instance Management. The GIS Cloud Suite provides built-in roles such as SYSTEM、ADMIN、PORTAL_USER、PORTAL_VIEWER by default, and also supports administrators to add custom roles to meet basic system construction and management needs.

Built-in roles

The GIS Cloud Suite defaults to the following built-in roles, where ADMIN, PORTAL_USER, and PORTAL_VIEWER are mutually exclusive. A user can not both exist in theory for two or three roles, and if there is a role that will ignore the lower priority, the priority order SYSTEM>ADMIN> PORTAL_USER> PORTAL_VIEWER.

  • SYSTEM: Built-in system role (not shown by default in the product interface). This role has all permissions for the entire GIS Cloud Suite by default. Users associated with the SYSTEM role will be assigned the ADMIN role at the same time and cannot be unbound or deleted. Users associated with the SYSTEM role can add, edit, and delete other users of the ADMIN role with caution.
  • ADMIN: Built-in administrator role. This role defaults to the use and administrative permissions of the entire GIS Cloud Suite, but cannot assign SYSTEM or ADMIN roles to other users, nor can it delete other users associated with SYSTEM or ADMIN roles.
  • PORTAL_USER: Built-in SuperMap iPortal common user role. Have access to the iPortal portal, including the use, creation and sharing of portal resources.
  • PORTAL_VIEWER: Built-in SuperMap iPortal viewer role (Associated with this role does not take permission for iPortal’s number of users). Have access to the iPortal portal and view permissions for shared resources, such as logging in iPortal to view maps, services, scenes, apps, data resources, and so on. Users who have associated with the PORTAL_VIEWER role can not create their own resources and manage resources, such as unable to register services, create maps, create groups, upload data, and so on.
  • DATA_CENTER:Built-in SuperMap iPortal data uploader role. Have permission to upload data and publish services. Users who associate the role need to associate the PORTALUSER role to log in to the iPortal portal, upload data, The role can not be associated with the ADMIN and PORTAL\VIEWER roles.

Customize roles

On the Roles page, the administrator allows to add roles, and delete the existing roles. Please add roles by the following steps:

  1. Clicks Security > Roles on the left navigation bar to enter the page.
  2. Clicks on Add Role.
  3. Fills in the role name and click on Add to finish creating.
